At Deception Bay Plumbing, we're often called in when homeowners want to completely transform the layout of their home. One of our latest projects involved relocating a kitchen to the opposite side of a townhouse. This kitchen relocation project is in Warner, located within the Moreton Bay Region north of Brisbane.
Moving a kitchen isn't simply a matter of relocating cabinets and appliances. The plumbing infrastructure must also be redesigned to ensure the new kitchen functions correctly and complies with Australian plumbing standards.
Excavation and Sewer Drain Relocation
For this Warner townhouse renovation, the existing kitchen waste point was located on the opposite side of the property. To accommodate the new kitchen layout, our team excavated the front yard to locate the property's main sewer drain.
After exposing the existing sewer line, we installed a new 65mm sanitary drain and carefully routed the pipework back to the new kitchen location. Correct fall and grading were maintained throughout the installation to ensure reliable drainage performance for years to come.
The excavation work required careful planning to minimise disruption to landscaping while ensuring access to the existing drainage system.
New Water Services for the Kitchen
In addition to the drainage work, new hot and cold water services were installed to suit the new kitchen design. These water lines were routed through the wall cavity and positioned precisely to align with the future cabinetry layout.
By completing the plumbing rough-in stage before cabinet installation, the kitchen installers can proceed with confidence knowing all services are correctly positioned and ready for connection.
Internal Kitchen Plumbing Setup
Inside the townhouse, the new waste and water points were installed and tested, ready for the cabinet makers and appliance installers.
This stage of the project included:
- New kitchen waste pipe installation
- Hot and cold water rough-in
- Drainage connection preparation
- Pipework support and securing
- Compliance with Queensland plumbing regulations
- Positioning for future sink and dishwasher installation
Why Professional Kitchen Relocation Plumbing Matters
Kitchen relocation projects involve much more than basic plumbing work. Incorrect drainage falls, poorly positioned pipework, or inadequate planning can lead to costly problems after the renovation is complete.
Using a licensed plumber ensures:
- Correct sewer connections
- Compliant drainage installation
- Reliable water supply services
- Proper appliance connections
- Long-term performance and durability
